Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Tanzila Narbayeva met with the UN Women Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia Alia El-Yassir.

The parties discussed issues of cooperation on gender issues with Uzbekistan, including through the Women Leader’s Dialogue in Central Asia.

Alia El-Yassir highly appreciated the work carried out under the Uzbekistan chairmanship in the Dialogue to develop regional cooperation between women in the region in the field of preventive diplomacy and women’s entrepreneurship. The UN Women Regional Director emphasized that she welcomes the efforts to achieve gender equality in Uzbekistan and hopes to maintain the momentum for further empowering women in the country.
