Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis held fruitful meetings in New York

The 68th Session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW68) is taking place in New York, USA.

The session was attended by the Uzbekistan delegation led by the Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Chairperson of the Republican Commission on Increasing the Role of Women in Society, Gender Equality and Family, Tanzila Narbayeva.

During the session, the Chairperson of the Senate met with the State Secretary for Gender Equality, Equal Opportunities and Diversity of Belgium, Marie-Colline Leroy.

The parties considered issues of developing a bilateral partnership between Uzbekistan and Belgium, including intensifying interaction through specialized women’s organizations and exchanging experience in improving legislation in this direction.

Marie-Colline Leroy highly appreciated the reforms in protecting the rights and interests of women and ensuring gender equality, implemented on the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan.

At a meeting with the Vice President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Võ Thị Ánh Xuân, practical issues of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries were discussed.

Võ Thị Ánh Xuân shared warm memories of a fruitful conversation with the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev within the framework of the next summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia, held in Astana, and a short stay in Tashkent in October 2022.

At the meeting, special attention was paid to establishing and developing inter-parliamentary relations and implementing educational and other joint humanitarian programs.

At the meeting with the Vice President of the UAE Gender Balance Council, Mona Ghanem Al Marri, it was noted that the multifaceted ties of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the UAE have been raised to a new level.

The official visit of the President of Uzbekistan to this country opened a new page in the history of friendly relations between the two countries and gave a powerful impetus to enhancing comprehensive cooperation.

During the dialogue, views were exchanged on implementing joint projects on achieving Sustainable Development Goals, public administration, improving indicators in international rankings, expanding women’s rights, and developing women’s entrepreneurship.

A proposal was put forward to consider the practical aspects of relations, particularly in developing women’s entrepreneurship, and opportunities for joint implementation of programs in other areas through special workshops and projects.

In conclusion, the parties expressed a unanimous opinion on developing multifaceted cooperation, including ensuring gender equality.

The Chairperson of the Senate invited Mona Ghanem Al Marri to participate in the Asian Women’s Forum, which will be held in Samarkand.
