The Equal Future platform of the UNDP’s Regional Bureau for Europe and CIS has been launched.
The videoconference held in this regard was attended by the Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva, as well as the UN Assistant Secretary-General and UNDP Regional Director for Europe and the CIS Ivana Živković, heads, specialists of the Development Programme departments, representatives of scientific and expert circles.
This platform was launched by the UNDP Istanbul Regional Center to provide information and methodological support in gender equality for parliaments, government bodies, and civil society institutions in 19 countries in Europe and Central Asia. The platform serves as an online hub to increase women’s knowledge of participation in public administration.
Chairperson of the Senate, Chairperson of the Republican Commission on Increasing the Role of Women in Society, Gender Equality and Family T. Narbayeva emphasized that the current meeting is relevant for all countries, since gender policy is an essential factor in the development of society and the state.
It was noted that in this regard, Uzbekistan is implementing comprehensive measures to support women and actively involve them in the socio-political and socio-economic spheres of the country, as well as in the international initiatives of Uzbekistan to develop regional cooperation on gender equality issues.
Participants of the event noted that this online platform is effective for organizing various discussions, trainings, and joint events to address issues of gender equality, exchange of information, and experience in gender equality in Europe and Central Asia.
