Chairman of the Armed Services Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives visits the Senate of the Oliy Majlis

A delegation of the U.S. Congress led by the Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, Mike Rogers, visited the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

A wide range of Uzbekistan – American cooperation, in particular, issues of strengthening interparliamentary ties, developing cooperation in trade-economic and labor relations was discussed at the meeting of the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Sodiq Safoyev with the delegation members.

During the dialogue, detailed information was also provided on the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan to ensure human rights and freedoms, the rule of law, transparency of public administration, further development and strengthening of civil society institutions, protection of private property and foreign investors, and economic liberalization.

The role and effectiveness of activities aimed at expanding ties between the parliaments of the two countries within the framework of the Caucus on Uzbekistan Friendship Group established in the House of Representatives of the U.S. Congress were noted.

Issues of economic cooperation also became the focus of attention. It was noted that the American-Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce (AUCC), which includes 38 leading companies, significantly contributes to strengthening the bilateral strategic partnership. The parties exchanged views on enhancing investment partnerships and strengthening ties between the two countries’ business circles.

At the same time, an agreement was reached on the consistent continuation of cooperation in labor relations, the creation of decent working conditions, and ongoing consultations on issues such as the introduction of international standards in the field of labor.

Following the dialogue, the parties expressed their readiness to expand further and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.
