Chair of the Senate of Kazakhstan: “Uzbekistan's achievements in various fields are an example for the countries of the region”

Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva met with the Chair of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, Maulen Ashimbayev, during the meeting of the Women Leaders' Dialogue in Central Asia, which is held under the chairmanship of Kazakhstan in Astana.

Particular attention was paid to the current state and prospects of inter-parliamentary relations, further development of trade-economic and investment cooperation, and strengthening ties between the two countries’ regions.

Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva noted that Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan are the most active countries in the regional format, and the pace of bilateral cooperation is growing rapidly in all areas. She expressed her opinion on the expansion and deepening of cooperation between the regions of the two countries and the implementation of investment and trade agreements adopted following the results of the Uzbekistan – Kazakhstan interregional forum. It was noted that it is necessary to pay special attention to this area and effectively use all the possibilities of the parliament.

Chair of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan Maulen Ashimbayev stressed that the Women Leaders' Dialogue in Central Asia initiated by Uzbekistan is a unique platform for regional cooperation and is significant in that it takes it to a new level.

“We welcome the adoption of the Constitution of Uzbekistan in a new edition, which covers all areas of the country's development and embodies the great reformatory potential of state policy”, – says Maulen Ashimbayev. – Uzbekistan’s achievements in various fields are an example for the region’s countries. In particular, we consider your experience in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. In this regard, I would like to note with satisfaction that the extensive practical experience of Uzbekistan has been taken as a basis, and a commission on SDGs has also been established under the Parliament of Kazakhstan.

At the meeting with Chairman of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerlan Koshanov, attention was focused on an important area of cooperation between the two countries – inter-parliamentary relations, which are acquiring a regular character.

An agreement was reached to continue promoting joint initiatives and mutual support within the framework of international parliamentary structures and other international organizations.
