In accordance with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s resolution dated 21 December 2016 “On a regular call-up of citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan for fixed-term military service and on transferring to the reserve of the Armed Forces servicemen who have served out the set term of military service”, ceremonies are being held to meet soldiers returning after completing fixed-term military service.A ceremony has been held at the Nukus railway station to meet soldiers who served out fixed-term military service at military units of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
At the ceremony, D.Shokarimov, deputy chief of the Qoraqalpoghiston directorate for defence matters; S.Turmanov, the chairman of a committee of the Joqorghi Kenges (supreme council) of the Republic of Qoraqalpoghiston; and others said that military service helped to bring up young people in the spirit of love for the Motherland, devotion to ideas of independence and respect for national values and also to raise their intellectual potential.
Serving in the ranks of the Uzbek national army is not only every young man’s constitutional duty but also is regarded as an honour. Military service not only makes young people physically stronger but also creates a big opportunity for them to decide on their future. The First President’s resolution dated 31 May 2012 “On additional measures to improve the system of privileges for citizens who have served out fixed-term military service in the ranks of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan” is an important programme document in this sphere.
Young people who have served out fixed-term military service in the ranks of the Armed Forces and have obtained recommendations from their military unit command are awarded as a privilege 27 per cent of the highest possible number of points that can be scored in tests for entrance to higher educational institutions in this country.
Asqar Kurbonboyev of Beruniy District performed his manly duty at a military unit in Tashkent Region and obtained such a recommendation.
“In future I want to study at the Qoraqalpogh state university and become a good specialist,” says Asqar Kurbonboyev.
As part of the event, there was a concert by artistes.
