10:07 / 2023-07-12

The International Institute for Central Asia hosted an international roundtable discussion on “Central Asia: Global Trends and the Regional Agenda”.

The event was held at the initiative of international experts who arrived in Uzbekistan to participate as observers in the Presidential Election. The platform for discussion was provided by the International Institute for Central Asia.

More than 30 leading national and international experts from public and political circles, think tanks, and research institutes from Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and other countries attended the event.

Experts discussed the prospects for the development of regional cooperation in the context of the elections of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, their impact on regional processes, and interaction in solving problems on the global agenda.

The main attention was paid to the foreign policy of the Republic of Uzbekistan, which retains its priorities and is focused on continuing the course of further rapprochement of Central Asian countries.

It was noted that the re-election of Shavkat Miromonovich Mirziyoyev as the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan ensures the preservation of the sustainable interest of the world community in Uzbekistan.

As experts noted, Uzbekistan is a center of stability and a factor in the sustainable development of the entire region, stimulating the strengthening of good neighborly relations and the development of mutually beneficial relations with neighboring countries on a constructive basis.

In particular, it was emphasized that the results of the elections opened up a new era of regional cooperation, allowing the countries of Central Asia to build new long-term plans of a strategic nature to strengthen multilateral interaction further.

In general, experts agreed that Central Asia, thanks to the successful diversification of Uzbekistan’s foreign policy, and the efforts of all neighboring countries in the region, has confidently moved out of the position of a strategic periphery and has become a center of attraction for global and non-regional partners.
