09:00 / 2023-05-05

On 3-4 May 2023, the Uzbekistan delegation, as part of the EU CBRN Risk Mitigation CoE Initiative, took part in the meeting of the heads of secretariats in Tbilisi, Georgia.

The meeting participants discussed the initiative's interregional vision, agreed on the Interregional Action Plan for 2023, and reviewed the content of the official days of the national coordinators of the initiative and the dynamics of global support for the OSA project.

The Regional Secretariat for Central Asia was represented at the meeting by the Head of the Secretariat and the Head of the Inspection for Control of Mining, Geological and Industrial Safety under the Ministry of Mining and Geology of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Mr. Bakhtiyor Gulyamov. Mr. Gulyamov informed about the achievements of the Initiative in the Central Asia region and the cooperation of the secretariat with various organizations and regions within the framework of the Initiative. He also noted the importance of promoting inter-regional collaboration not only as a tool for sharing experience, practices, and expertise but also as a tool for creating and strengthening professional coalitions and CBRN experts' networks.

The meeting served as a good platform for the exchange of experience between the regions, which was also attended by the heads of the regional secretariats of the EU CBRN CoE, representatives of the European Union, UNICRI, and the Government of Georgia.

The EU CBRN CoE Initiative is funded by the European Commission and implemented in cooperation with the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) and the European Commission Joint Research Centre (JRC). The European External Action Service is also involved in the follow-up to the initiative. The initiative is developed with the technical support of relevant international and regional organizations, the EU Member States, and other stakeholders through coherent and effective national, regional and international cooperation. The initiative involves 64 countries in eight regions of the world.
