By 2026, the total capacity of solar and wind power plants in Uzbekistan will reach 8,000 MW.

According to the Ministry of Energy, it is planned to increase the share of renewable energy sources to 25 percent by 2026, which will save about 3 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year.

A program will be developed to enhance and support the use of renewable energy sources. According to which it is planned to build 8 wind power plants (WPP) with a total capacity of 4000 MW, in particular 4 power plants in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, as well as in Bukhara and Navoi regions with a total capacity of 1600 MW in 2023-2024. In addition, in 2025-2026, 4 wind farms with a total capacity of 2,400 MW will be put into operation in the country.
