Business forum on manufacturing building materials

On 12 July, Tashkent hosted a business forum on the development of the potential for manufacturing building materials in the country.

The implementation of the Presidential Decree “On additional measures to increase the industrial potential of the regions” of June 9, 2021, was discussed at the event, organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Uzsanoatqurilishbank and Uzsanoatqurilishmateriallari Association.

Over the past four years, the volume of industrial production in Uzbekistan has grown by 23 percent, in particular, there is a 1.3-fold increase in the production of building materials as one of the rapidly developing industries.

The First Deputy Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Aziz Voitov noted that according to the decree, a new integral system is being introduced. It is aimed at promoting the accelerated development of domestic industry and manufacturing building materials.

The Chairman of the Board of JSCB Uzsanoatqurilishbank, Chairman of the Council for the Development of Building Materials Industry S. Annaklichev addressed the event. He emphasized that together with experts from BCG, activities are being carried out to develop a strategy for the development of the sphere based on foreign experience. It was noted that it is planned to organize a cluster system with the help of existing development companies.

It was noted that based on the decree, agreements are being implemented on the allocation of $200 million to Uzsanoatqurilishbank from the Fund for Reconstruction and Development. The bank is working on putting into circulation Eurobonds for $300 million.

The event was attended by representatives of ministries and agencies, entrepreneurs-manufacturers of building materials, engineers, developers. They exchanged views on improving the regulatory environment and standards to increase the industrial potential of industries and regions, training professional personnel for local industrial enterprises, taking into account current trends, and the widespread use of training programs.
