At the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan, an airport meeting international standards will be built in Bukhara region as part of a public-private partnership project. $226 million is allocated for this purpose.
The new airport will serve 1,200 passengers per hour. Improving the quality of passenger and aircraft service will make it possible to attract new international airlines.

The currently operating Bukhara International Airport does not meet the needs of residents and tourists. It can handle only 400 passengers per hour or 1 million passengers per year. Flight management and passenger service systems, as well as waiting and meeting rooms, limit the possibility of increasing the number of flights. Most tourists have to land at the airports of Tashkent, Samarkand, or Urgench first to get to Bukhara. The region’s hotel business and pilgrimage tourism have rapidly developed in recent years. In the next three years, the number of tourists in Bukhara will increase to 10 million.

Responsible officials were instructed to increase the number of builders and equipment at the event devoted to speeding up the construction of the new airport.
