Hokim of Bukhara region Botir Zaripov received Rafael Nektalov, Coordinator of the Congress of Bukharian Jews in the United States and Canada.
At the meeting, the rich historical and cultural heritage of Bukhara, as well as its investment and tourism potential, were highlighted. The parties discussed organizing a scientific and practical conference to be held in February 2026 at Bukhara State University, with participation from the leadership of the Congress of Bukharian Jews in the United States and Canada, foreign scholars, investors, experts, and prominent figures in the fields of tourism and culture. Initiatives were also considered to establish a museum titled “History of Jews and Tolerance” in the building of the Jewish Synagogue in Kagan and to develop cooperation to promote Bukhara’s investment and tourism potential in the United States.


Following the meeting, agreements were reached to host cultural events dedicated to Bukharian shashmaqom in New York and Bukhara, and to continue negotiations to establish sister-city relations among Bukhara, Atlanta (Georgia), and St. Louis (Missouri).
