Bukhara hosts International Forum on Global Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals

International Forum on Global Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals has kicked off in Bukhara.

Members of the Oliy Majlis and the Government of Uzbekistan, heads and representatives of international organizations and their agencies in Uzbekistan, parliamentarians from more than 20 countries, as well as national and foreign experts have arrived in Bukhara.

Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva addressed the event. A welcoming message from the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the forum participants was read out.

The forum is attended by the Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Martin Chungong, who arrived in Uzbekistan for the first time to attend the event.

The event will also include welcoming addresses, including video messages by the heads of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Turkic Speaking Countries, the Asian Parliamentary Assembly, the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, and others.

At the forum, participants will discuss the role of parliaments in effectively achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), the national development strategies of states in terms of achieving the SDG, and the issues of financing activities to achieve the SDG and the formation of statistical indicators in these processes.
