Budapest to host Uzbekistan – Hungary Business Forum

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Péter Szijjártó has arrived in Uzbekistan with a working visit.

At the meeting with the Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov, it was noted that the development of Uzbekistan – Hungary relations maintains a positive pace. There are opportunities for further development of cooperation, expansion of the scale of strategic partnership, especially investment collaboration and industrial cooperation between the two countries.

There are 16 joint ventures in Uzbekistan with the participation of Hungarian capital. Investment projects are being formed in energy, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, production of medical equipment and plastic products with the companies Bonafarm, KITE, Meditop, Gedeon Richter, MOL Group. The parties, together with the National Agency for the Development of Industrial Parks under the Hungarian Foreign Ministry, agreed to take measures to create a separate industrial zone in Uzbekistan for Hungarian companies.

At the meeting, the possibility of establishing up to four air flights between the capitals of the two countries was considered. The successful entry of the OTP Bank of Hungary into the market of Uzbekistan was highly appreciated. This bank is interested in expanding its activities in Uzbekistan by attracting new companies and financing joint projects.

Following the meeting, a commitment was expressed in the further development of multifaceted cooperation. An agreement was reached to organize the 8th meeting of the Uzbekistan – Hungary Government Commission on Economic Cooperation and a business forum in the first half of this year.
