Brussels hosted the sixth round of the High-level Political and Security Dialogue between the European Union and the countries of Central Asia.

Brussels hosted the sixth round of the High-level Political and Security Dialogue between the European Union and the countries of Central Asia.

The event was attended by delegations from Central Asian countries, in particular from Uzbekistan.

Participants of the event noted the content of the new EU strategy aimed at expanding the practical cooperation of Central Asian countries with the European Union, as well as willingness to develop cooperation in all areas.

New opportunities in the region, where Uzbekistan plays a significant role, serve to strengthen the mutually beneficial partnership in the EU – Central Asia format. Great contribution of Uzbekistan to settlement of the Afghan conflict and restoration of socio-economic infrastructure of Afghanistan was noted.

Participants welcomed the start of a new phase of the EU’s Border Management Program in Central Asia (BOMCA), discussed issues of expansion of cooperation in prevention of violent extremism, combating terrorism and illicit drug trafficking.
