British photographer captures monuments near Afghanistan
12:59 / 2021-08-16

The usual life in Surkhandarya region continues. Everyone is busy from the early morning.

Due to political and military events taking place in the neighboring state, the southern borders of Uzbekistan are reliably protected.

The military-political situation in Afghanistan did not affect life in the region at all. When we visited the territory of Fayoztepa archaeological site, located on the banks of Amudarya, we met with the photographer of the British publishing house Bradt Travel Guides Julian Elliott and asked about the guest’s opinion about Surkhandarya.

“Fayoztepa is an ancient Buddhist complex located on the territory of Surkhandarya region. I was very glad that although the absolute majority in this country profess Islam, this unique Buddhist monument has been preserved in its original form. We were very close to the territory of Afghanistan. With the help of a drone, we easily took interesting pictures. In general, life here is calm and quiet.
