Tashkent hosted a press conference on the occasion of the celebration of the British Council’s 25th anniversary in Uzbekistan.
The event was attended by the Director of the British Council Denise Waddingham, the British Ambassador to Uzbekistan Tim Torlot, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Public Education, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education and other partner organizations.
The activities of the British Council in Uzbekistan began in October 1996 with the signing of a bilateral agreement. Since then, the organization has made significant progress in strengthening educational, institutional and cultural ties between Uzbekistan and the UK.
The British Council mainly implements projects in the field of culture and the arts, the development of the creative economy, the reform of the educational system and the English language teaching, as well as the assessment of English language proficiency.
It was noted that within the framework of the memorandum in 2021, the British Council has developed several programs to support the national education reform in Uzbekistan.
The British Council will continue to work on the development of the education system in Uzbekistan and the popularization of learning English, as well as support for the cultural and creative spheres within the framework of promoting projects to develop English language learning.
