The Press and Information Agency of Uzbekistan, together with a number of ministries and departments, public organizations in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regions and the city of Tashkent, held a Republican Book Festival under the motto "Improving the reading culture – an important guarantee of achieving great goals”.

Within the framework of the opening ceremony of the event, the winners of the regional stages of the competition "Exemplary bookstore" were awarded. The stores recognized as the best in each region were awarded with certificates of honor and memorable gifts.



Exhibitions of books with participation of more than 100 publishing houses, creative houses, printing enterprises and organizations of book trade, which lasted two days on Sayilgoh street of Tashkent city, as well as in the centers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan and all regions, were organized.

Authors told visitors about their works at the festival. Within the framework of the event, the Youth Union organized its competitions. Students participated in this project with great interest, no question was left unanswered. This indicates a growing reading culture among youth.



The performance of "Shavkat Rakhmon and Youth" was staged together with the National Library of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi, the projects "My First Book", "Poetic Youth Tournament", as well as "Famous Persons Read Books", during which participants had the opportunity to meet and talk with artists of theater and cinema, athletes, were held.

Winners in nominations "The most active participant", "The best stand", "The most reading family", "The best book-lover", "Young book-lover" were also awarded.
