Bishkek hosts the meeting of the Secretaries of the SCO member states Security Councils
Uzbekistan delegation attended the fourteenth meeting of the Secretaries of the Security Councils of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states, in Bishkek.
On May 15, Uzbekistan delegation attended the fourteenth meeting of the Secretaries of the Security Councils of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states, in Bishkek.
The delegation was led by Secretary of the Security Council under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Viktor Makhmudov.
The event was attended by delegations from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Russia, China, India, Pakistan, led by secretaries of the Security Council, ministers, security advisors, as well Secretary General of the SCO and Director of the Executive Committee of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure.
Participants of the meeting exchanged views on the situation in ensuring security in the SCO space, prospects of cooperation development and improvement of interaction mechanisms between member states of the Organization in combating terrorism, separatism and extremism, illicit trafficking of arms and drugs, transnational organized crime, as well as, ensuring international information security.

At the event, the importance of establishing peace and stability in Afghanistan, promoting its economic recovery, including through intensification of regional cooperation in trade and improving the infrastructure as an important condition for security and sustainable development of the region as a whole was noted. The growing role of the SCO – Afghanistan Contact Group and the importance of implementing the SCO roadmap to promote peace and stability in Afghanistan was noted.
Participants of the meeting highly appreciated the Tashkent International High-level Conference on Afghanistan “Peace process, security cooperation and regional connectivity”, organized in 2018. The important role of Tashkent in launching international efforts on intensifying negotiations on settlement of conflict in Afghanistan was noted.
Heads of delegations welcomed Uzbekistan's intention to hold a Ministerial meeting of the eighth regional economic cooperation conference on Afghanistan (RECCA VIII) in Tashkent in the second half of 2019.

Meetings were held with the Minister of Public Security of the People's Republic of China Zhao Kezhi, Deputy National Security Adviser to the Prime Minister of India Pankaj Saran, Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Nikolai Patrushev and Secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Tajikistan Mahmadali Vatanzoda. The sides discussed issues of deepening cooperation in security, including through maintaining the practice of bilateral consultations between the Security Council offices.
Following the event, the Protocol of the fourteenth meeting of the Security Council Secretaries of the SCO member states was signed.
The next meeting of the SCO Security Council Secretaries will be held in Russia next year.
