The 16th Forum of Creative and Scientific Intelligentsia of the CIS started in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic.

Within the framework of the forum, the 29th Meeting of the Council of Heads of State News Agencies of the CIS was held.

The meeting was held at the Ala-Archa State Residence in Bishkek. Press Secretary of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Erbol Sultanbaev opened the event and greeted the participants on behalf of President Sadyr Zhaparov.

“Sadyr Nurgozhoevich supports the efforts of the Council of Heads of State News Agencies of the CIS to strengthen the friendship between our countries”, Mr. Sultanbaev said.

The agenda of the CIS News Council meeting included further strengthening cooperation in the media space, preparing an interim report on activities, implementing joint projects, and electing the Chairman of the Council. Issues of ensuring objectivity and combating fake information were discussed.

At the meeting, TASS Director General Andrey Kondrashov was elected as the new Director of the Council of Heads of State News Agencies of the CIS. He expressed gratitude to his colleagues for their trust.

UzA First Deputy Director General Khushnud Khudoyberdiyev took part in the meeting of the CIS News Council on behalf of Uzbekistan National News Agency, an observer in the Council.
