Best practices of the Ombudsmen for Human Rights and Business studied

The Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights (Ombudsman) Feruza Eshmatova took part in an international conference organized in Baku on October 19-20 on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Ombudsman Institute of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Ombudsmen, heads of national institutions and international experts from Uzbekistan, Türkiye, China, Japan, Moldova, Indonesia, Iran, Korea, Kazakhstan, Pakistan and the Kingdom of Morocco were invited to the prestigious international conference on “The role of the Ombudsman and National Human Rights Institutions in business and human rights”.

The event aims to promote discussion of trends and problems in the implementation of the guidelines, to develop dialogue and cooperation on the protection of business and human rights, and to create a platform for the mutual exchange of experience.

Speaking at the event, Ombudsman Feruza Eshmatova congratulated the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan on the 20th anniversary of the Ombudsman Institute and expressed readiness to further strengthen cooperation.

The Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights focused on the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan in human rights protection, measures of influence and mechanisms used by the Ombudsman to effectively protect the rights and interests of citizens, shared her experience in conducting monitoring visits to penitentiary institutions and spoke about the work done to ensure the transparency of the activities of the institution.
