The monograph “Pavel Benkov. Sun Artist” by Academician, Doctor of Art Criticism Nigora Akhmedova was presented to the general public.

Honored Art Worker of Uzbekistan Pavel Petrovich Benkov had a special place in the fine arts of 1920-1940.

“He came to Uzbekistan already being a qualified specialist with rich creative and pedagogical experience”, Nigora Akhmedova said. – In his canvases, the artist reflected important social problems, skillfully conveyed the originality and unique features of the nature of our country.

True admirers and specialists of fine arts are well aware of the great contribution the painter made to the creative world of Uzbekistan. Having moved from Russia to Uzbekistan at a mature age, he deeply studied history and local nature. He reflected the way of life of Uzbekistan people and the beauty of the country in his works.

“Benkov not only trained many students, but also formed his school”, said Sobirjon Rakhmetov, a member of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan. – The artist considered Samarkand his second home, loved this city, created his works here and passed on the secrets of creativity to young people. He was a great master.
