On January 22, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China held an educational forum in Beijing.
The event was attended by rectors of 37 leading universities of Uzbekistan and 110 higher education institutions in China.
First Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation K. Karimov met with Vice Minister of Education of the People’s Republic of China Chen Jie. The parties discussed the role of the high-level visit in developing bilateral relations and prospects for developing cooperation.
Panel sessions were also held by the heads of Uzbekistan – China universities in several areas – exact disciplines, engineering, agriculture, ICT, humanities, medicine and pharmaceuticals.
At the event, 70 bilateral documents were signed between the education institutions of the two countries, and agreements were reached between five higher education institutions on the organization of joint educational programs, thanks to which more than 300 students will have the opportunity to study at advanced Chinese universities. Agreements were also reached on the organization of grant programs for more than 100 Uzbekistan students.
The Beijing Cooperation Declaration between Uzbekistan and China’s higher education institutions was adopted at the forum. The declaration provides for creating an institutional platform between higher education institutions of both countries, forming a model of China – Central Asia Educational Cooperation, further developing academic exchange programs and implementing joint scientific and innovative projects.
