Baku hosts trilateral consultations on transport cooperation
10:04 / 2021-04-09

Baku hosted three-day Uzbekistan – Azerbaijan – Turkey consultations on cooperation in transport, within the framework of the Turkic Council.

The consultations were attended by delegations of transport and customs departments of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, as well as the International Transporters Association of Turkey (UND).

Uzbekistan delegation, consisting of representatives of the Ministry of Transport, the State Customs Committee and the Association of International Road Carriers of Uzbekistan, was led by the Deputy Minister of Transport Abdusamat Muminov.

The parties shared their views on creating favorable conditions and increasing the volume of cargo transportation through the Trans-Caspian corridor. In particular, the parties discussed the possibility of applying discounts on the cost of services for the transportation of Ro-Ro through the Caspian Sea, providing additional permits, canceling transit charges and minimizing road and other charges.

Following the meetings, the parties also reached an agreement to accelerate the digitalization of the road transport system by expanding the participants in the e-TIR pilot project and introducing the e-Permit electronic system between the member countries of the Turkic Council.

The delegations also discussed the draft intergovernmental agreement between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan on international road transport and reached a common understanding of its individual provisions.
