Andijan hosted a literary festival on the occasion of the 540th anniversary of an outstanding representative of Uzbek classical literature, a great statesman, a skilled commander, scientist and poet Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur’s birth.

The event, organized jointly with the Hokimiyat of the region and the regional branch of the Uzbekistan Writers Union, was attended by poets and writers, philologists, representatives of the general public, and youth.

The participants honored the memory of the great poet, laid flowers at the monument to Babur.

The head of the Republican Center for Spirituality and Enlightenment Minkhojiddin Khodjimatov, Deputy Chairman of Uzbekistan Writers Union Gayrat Majid, Azerbaijani Babur scholar Ramiz Asker, Turkish scientist Bilal Yücel and others addressed the event.

Babur scholars from India, Afghanistan, Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan and other countries took part in the event. An opinion was expressed about the importance of studying the life and creative legacy of Babur.

“Whatever country Babur and the Babur dynasty conquered, they respected the religion, customs and traditions of the people of this country”, says Sitesh Kumar, an employee of the Cultural Center of the Indian Embassy in Uzbekistan. – Babur was respected not only in India, but also in all countries that were part of the Babur empire. He was considered a wise and fair padishah. Babur scholars are faced with the task of in-depth study of these features of Babur and bringing them to the general public.

At the event, the actors demonstrated stage performances about the life of Babur, and the youth read excerpts from his ghazals.

The event continues in New Andijan as part of the international conference “The role of the creative legacy of Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur in the spiritual and enlightenment improvement of mankind” with the participation of domestic and foreign Babur scholars.
