As part of the Uzbekistan Culture Days, the long-awaited presentation of the book “Baburnama” in Italian took place at the largest book exhibition at the La Nuvola Center in Rome.

The work from the Chagatai language was translated by the famous orientalist Franco Cardini, the text was edited in collaboration with the Freelance Analyst of Turkish Studies Federico De Renzi. The book will be available for sale throughout Italy.

Sandro Teti, owner and founder of the publishing house “Sandro Teti Editore”, opened the event with a story about the life and work of Babur, as well as the importance of scientists such as Abu Ali ibn Sina and Al-Khwarizmi. Noting that “Baburnama” is one of the masterpieces of Uzbek cultural heritage, he expressed confidence that the book will find its readers in Italy.

Special attention was paid to the fact that in June 2023, during the official visit of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Italy, a special copy of “Baburnama” was presented to President Sergio Mattarella.

The Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Italy Abat Fayzullayev stressed the historical connection between the two countries and discussed the prospects for bilateral cooperation. The guests also enjoyed Uzbek national songs and dances performed by the “Friendship of People” Ensemble.
