Tashkent hosted a festive event on the occasion of the Agricultural Workers Day of Uzbekistan.
The Presidential Press Secretary Sherzod Asadov congratulated the industry workers on behalf of the Head of the state.
As the Minister of Agriculture Aziz Voitov noted, this year, within the framework of the Strategy for the Development of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2020-2030, cardinal reforms were carried out and several positive results were achieved. In particular, in the overall ranking of the Global Food Security Index, Uzbekistan rose by 12 positions and took 73rd place among 113 countries.
“Uzbekistan ranked first among the ten countries with the highest growth rates in terms of food security in 2019-2022”, Mr. Voitov said. – In the future, completely new systems of financing, crediting, insurance and subsidies will be introduced in the agro-industrial complex based on the proposals of farmers, advanced foreign experience. Legal grounds will be created for establishing cooperation in organizing the storage, processing and sale of products. Agricultural service centers will be created in 3-4 districts of each region. The Agroplatform information system will be launched to monitor the placement of crops and allocate preferential loans. In each region, a Food Industrial Park with modern infrastructure will be created.
It was emphasized that within the framework of state programs in agriculture, the Ministry of Innovative Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan financed many scientific projects. In particular, scientific organizations in the direction of “Agriculture and environmental protection” implemented 165 projects worth 226 billion 889 million UZS. The implementation of 33 scientific projects worth 34.1 billion UZS has been completed.
This year, more than 22 million tons of fruits and vegetables, more than 3.5 million tons of cotton, 24 thousand tons of cocoons, 2.7 million tons of meat and more than 11.7 million tons of milk, 8.7 billion eggs, 500 thousand tons of fish products. High performance was also achieved in processing and export of agricultural and forestry products, fisheries and beekeeping.
