Ayatjan Khalmakhanov becomes world champion
The World Junior Wrestling Championships were held in the city of Samokov, Bulgaria.
In the final of the Greco-Roman wrestling competition, our compatriot Ayatjan Khalmakhanov (up to 63 kg) defeated Alex Margaryan of Armenia to win the gold medal. Another wrestler, Akhmad Qodirov (up to 72 kg), claimed the silver medal. Bronze medals for the Uzbekistan national team were secured by Fayozbek Eshmirzayev (up to 67 kg) and Azimjon Soataliyev (up to 82 kg).
It should be recalled that earlier, freestyle wrestler Sherzod Poyonov (up to 92 kg) won a gold medal, while in women’s wrestling Nigina Sobirova (up to 62 kg) claimed a bronze medal.
