At the National Press Centre, an award ceremony has been held for the winners of the republican contest entitled “The army is a symbol of peace and calm in the country”.

The contest is devoted to the 25th anniversary of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan. This contest was arranged by Uzbekistan’s Creative Union of Journalists in cooperation with the press and information agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the public foundation for supporting and developing independent print media in Uzbekistan, the council of the Trade Unions Federation, the Ministry of Defence and the National Television and Radio Company.

The contest was conducted for the purpose of broadly explaining to the population the essence and significance of reforms being implemented in the system of the Armed Forces of the country, giving coverage of the lives of defenders of the Motherland and giving encouragement to mass media representatives writing on military topics.

Nearly 100 journalists working in such areas as television, radio, print media, online writing and photography submitted their creative work to the contest.

M.Soliyev, deputy minister of defence of the Republic of Uzbekistan, compared journalists writing on military topics to military servicemen. Because it is no secret that word has a strong social influence today.

During the event, awards were given to the contest’s winners and runners-up.

“I did not think that I would be among the runners-up of the contest. I only started my work in this sphere. I will write on social networks about how my contemporaries are performing their manly duty,” says a specialist of the “Bunyodkor” youth tele-club, Nargiza Kurbonova.

“My victory in this contest will prompt me to make new creative endeavours. In Qoraqalpoghiston, where climatic conditions are difficult, military servicemen are doing their service duties honourably,” says Ruslan Arziyev, a journalist from Nukus.

Diplomas and valuable gifts were given to the winners of the contest.

The singing and dancing ensemble of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan gave performances, creating a festive atmosphere in the event.
