Deputy Chairman of the Board of JSC Uzavtosanoat (Uzbekistan automotive industry) Azizbek Shukurov noted that there are 75 enterprises in the company’s structure, 40 of them are factories. The system employs 27 thousand workers. In 2018, the company produced products worth 3.5 billion USD. This is almost 8 percent of the country’s GDP. Last year, 220 thousand cars were produced in the country, which is two times more than in 2017. This year it is planned to produce 250 thousand cars.

GM Uzbekistan JSC plays an important role in development of automotive industry of the country. It exports its products to Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq and some African countries. Cooperation has been established with South Korea, Brazil, the United States and European countries.

If in 2018 the company exported cars and spare parts worth 25.5 million USD, this year it intends to increase this figure to 118.6 million USD.

Last year, production of over 100 types of component parts was localized, which made it possible to increase the level of localization to three percent and reduce imports by 14.6 million USD. This year, the company plans to localize more than 240 types of component parts, as a result of which annual imports will decrease by 17 million USD.
