Tashkent hosted the official opening ceremony of the Honorary Consulate of Austria in Uzbekistan.

The event was attended by the Ambassador of Austria to Uzbekistan (with residence in Vienna) Alois Kraut, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, heads of diplomatic missions of the EU member states accredited in Tashkent, as well as heads of Austrian companies.

Managing partner of the law firm Muhamedjanov and Partners, Ibragim Muhamedjanov, became the Honorary Consul of Austria in Uzbekistan.

It was noted that Uzbekistan – Austrian relations are dynamically developing. Uzbekistan is an important trading partner of Austria in Central Asia. There are 36 joint ventures and 9 Austrian companies operating in the country. The interest of the Austrian business community in Uzbekistan is growing.

It was emphasized that the opening of the Honorary Consulate will bring cooperation and relations between the two countries to a new level and will help overcome the negative impact of the consequences of the pandemic on trade and economic interaction.
