At the Uzbekistan Trade Unions Federation, a press conference has taken place on raising the role of public organizations in the Year of Dialogue with the People and Human Interests. In order to hold an open dialogue with families and to identify and deal with topical issues, discussion was conducted and analytical information was given about mapping out measures in cooperation with relevant organizations to initiate public control mechanisms and popularize them throughout the country and about future tasks.
Information about the results of a practical seminar held in Samarqand Region on 19-21 January this year and about experiences learnt there was provided to journalists.
“Together with officials of the territorial departments of the Women’s Committee, the Nuroniy (veteran) foundation, the Mahalla (neighbourhood) public charity foundation, the Kamolot public youth movement we visited neighbourhoods in the city of Samarqand. We held an open dialogue at many homes in the Mominkhoja neighbourhood in Kattaqorghon District, in the Sartepa residential area and the Farhod territorial area. The existence of problems and shortcomings relating to ensuring employment, the installation of enough non-cash payment facilities in these territories, the provision of preferential bank credits, the supply of drinking water and the provision of transportation services and road repair work became known. At the conclusion of the study of these, working groups gave analytical information to officials of these territories. It was possible to set specific time-frames for the implementation of measures to tackle the problems,” says Bahtiyor Mahmadaliyev, deputy chairman of the council of the Uzbekistan Trade Unions Federation.
As noted at the forum, most of the problems discovered during the dialogue with local people were results of inattention and could have been resolved on the local level. Specifically, among these are local people’s unawareness about banking services and inadequate numbers of book shops and small trade outlets.
During the conference, a memorandum was signed among the Uzbekistan Trade Unions Federation, the Women’s Committee, the Mahalla public charity foundation and the Kamolot public youth movement.
