ATOMEXPO 2024: Creating the Future Together
20:50 / 2024-03-25

Today, the world is changing rapidly. Belief in a bright future, supported by concrete plans, promising developments, and scientific and technological achievements, can provide the world we dream of for ourselves and our children. At the same time, creating a stable, high-tech, and harmonious natural environment using nuclear technologies of the new fourth generation, which guarantees a decent life and progress of humanity, is of great importance.

It should be noted that in an era when environmental problems are raging in various regions, the development of green technologies is of particular relevance. Consolidating the efforts of different countries and companies worldwide in this direction and developing long-term development programs through constructive dialogue are becoming a time requirement. The intended goal is to ensure a bright future based on clean energy.

In this context, the international forum ATOMEXPO, held every two years, has become an essential platform for dialogue. The event is the main event of the global nuclear industry. At this major exhibition and business platform, the current state of the nuclear industry is discussed and directions for its further development are formed.

The forum has been organized since 2009. Within its framework, many business meetings are held, working relationships are established, and cooperation agreements are signed. In addition to the main program, technical trips to nuclear power plants, other atomic industry facilities, and cultural events are organized for participants.

The event includes an exhibition and congress with a wide-format business program, the main event of which is the plenary session. The most important issues for the nuclear industry are raised during panel and roundtable discussions. At the exhibition, leading companies in the global nuclear industry and related sectors demonstrate their technologies.

This year, the international forum ATOMEXPO 2024 is taking place on March 25-26 in Sochi, Russia. More than 4,500 people are taking part in it. Among them are participants from 75 countries near and far abroad: representatives of business circles, government bodies, and international organizations. The forum will include roundtable discussions and panel sessions on 40 topics.

The Director General of the State Corporation Rosatom, Alexey Likhachev, opened the event and touched on important aspects of this year’s event.

“Creating a stable, high-tech environment using new, fourth-generation nuclear technologies is of particular importance for all interested countries. The forum is an important platform for considering significant aspects of the development of carbon-free energy, a responsible approach to natural resources and the environment, and opportunities for achieving sustainable development goals in international cooperation”, A. Likhachev said.

Within the forum's framework, a direct connection was established with the city of Seversk, Tomsk region, where the construction site of the world’s first fourth-generation energy complex, the “Breakthrough” project, is located. The technical readiness of the nuclear fuel production and reprocessing module was confirmed live.

Traditionally, essential cooperation agreements are signed at the exhibition. Over the forum’s entire history, the number of such agreements has exceeded 500, and their total value is estimated at $63 billion.

The forum’s agenda includes speeches by specialists from the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The forum continues its work through panel sessions.
