“Atirgul” contest winners awarded

On the occasion of March 8 – International Women’s Day, the Union of Journalists of Uzbekistan awarded the winners of the “Atirgul” (“Rose”) contest, organized to help increase the social and political activity of women journalists and demonstrate their creative potential.

Acting Chairman of the Union of Journalists of Uzbekistan Kholmurod Salimov, Director General of Uzbekistan National News Agency – UzA Abdusaid Kuchimov noted that active support for women who work fruitfully in all spheres of public life is one of the priorities of state policy.

This year, the “Atirgul” contest received more than 800 creative works from 149 participants representing print publications (59), television (37), radio journalism (15) and online journalism (25), and information services (13).

10 works were recognized as winners in such categories as “The best material covering the attention to a person”, “The best material revealing the importance of quality education”, “For the wide coverage of reforms in the spiritual sphere”, “The best material dedicated to honoring the dignity of a person”, and others.

A Correspondent of Uzbekistan National News Agency Shakhnoza Mamaturopova won the nomination for “The best material covering the attention to a person”.

The winners were solemnly presented with statuettes, diplomas, and memorable gifts.
