Ashgabat hosted the 15th meeting of the Council of Elders of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS). It was attended by representatives of the organization’s member countries.

Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, thanked all those present for the visit.

According to the Turkmenistan State News Agency (TDH), the parties exchanged views on the most important issues of mutual interest in a friendly and constructive atmosphere.

The elders emphasized the importance of strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation in trade and economic spheres, as well as in culture, education, youth policy, and others. The participants considered implementing the recommendations put forward at the end of the 14th meeting. The importance of the Organization’s role in strengthening political mutual trust and cooperation of the Turkic peoples and the strategy for restoring the Great Silk Road, which positively impacted the development of humanity, was noted.

Cooperation within the Organization brings the Turkic peoples closer based on their rich historical and cultural heritage, centuries-old traditions, and moral principles.

The participants paid particular attention to further popularization of the history of the Turkic world through the development of scientific cooperation, joint academic research, and international conferences. It was emphasized that one of the main priorities of the Council of Elders is strengthening relations between the Turkic peoples based on friendship and solidarity, as well as educating young people in the spirit of patriotism.
