At the state museum of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan, a spiritual enlightenment event entitled “The national army is a firm shield of our Motherland and peace in the country” has taken place on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the country’s Armed Forces.

The event was arranged by the Ministry of Defence and the Uzbekistan People’s Democratic Party.

The event was attended by deputies of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis (parliament) of the Republic of Uzbekistan, military servicemen and soldiers on fixed-term military service, cadets of higher military educational establishments in Tashkent, veterans of the Armed Forces, well-known writers and poets and also journalists.

A deputy of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis (parliament), Komila Karomova, and others have said that the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan are a guarantor of the country’s stable and steady democratic development. Over the years of independence, large-scale reforms were implemented in the defence sphere. The country’s mobile well-equipped army with high combat readiness and meeting modern requirements was created. Today military service is not only a constitutional duty but also a duty of honour, and the national army is a school of patriotism and bravery.

During the event, a ceremony was held to give “Ozbekiston Respublikasi Qurolli Kuchlariga 25 Yil” (the 25th anniversary of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan) memorable badges to military servicemen who had made a worthy contribution to strengthening the state’s defence capability and who had displayed high professionalism and devotion to their military and patriotic duty. Sergeant Oybek Nurmatov, commander of a military communication group is one of them.

“In our childhood, I and my brother looked with envy at soldiers and dreamed of becoming military servicemen. Our basic knowledge about radio technology and radio communications helped us to learn the profession of communications and become military servicemen. I am very glad that this memorable badge has been given to me. I will try to serve my Motherland selflessly also from now on and to raise my professional qualification,” says Oybek Nurmatov.

At the event, a group of military servicemen were presented with certificates of merit and gifts.
