The archival structure of Uzbekistan, founded a hundred years ago, is the only archival agency in Central Asia.

There are 14 regional departments, 103 state archives and branches in the system of the Uzarchive Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan. There are also 109 interdepartmental archives of personnel documents and 11 non-state archives under hokimiyats. Almost 12 million documents are stored in these institutions.
