Dubai hosts the Para Powerlifting World Cup.

Competitors are fighting not only for medals, but also for essential ranking points for the Summer Paralympic Games in Paris.

On the tournament’s first day, Uzbekistan’s Aqidakhon Akhtamova, weighing 50 kg in a single competition with a result of 103 kilograms, received a silver medal. With a total result of 301 kilograms, she won a gold medal.

The championships will run until March 6th.
