Before issuing an approval, experts carried out a thorough study of all components of the MTO Gas Chemical Complex project and the measures taken to manage the project’s impact on the environment.
Approval from the Republican State Expertise once again proves the Company’s commitment to the rational use of resources and the Project’s compliance with the State’s strict environmental norms and standards.
This approval is the first of three GCC MTO must receive before the official launch. The second one will be issued after the project is reviewed at a more advanced detailed design stage. The third and final expertise will be carried out directly before the commissioning of GCC MTO.
Previously, consultants Mott MacDonald, with the support from Ecostandard Expert LLC, conducted their analysis of the social and environmental impact of the project, which showed that the practices implemented by the GCC MCC comply with the recommendations of international financial development institutions, including the World Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. This ensures that the GCC MTO meets not only local requirements, but also international standards.
The documents also confirm positive social effects due to the creation of new jobs and economic development of the region.
An integrated approach to the sustainable development of the GCC MTO that includes not only environmental, health, and labor issues, but also focuses on human rights, as well as social responsibility and citizens’ well-being, has already received recognition at an international level – back in September 2023, the expert council of the Globuc agency has awarded the GCC MTO with the “ESG breakthrough of the Year” award.
