The Ministry of Culture held a memorial evening dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the People’s Artist of Uzbekistan, a major representative of the national opera Shakhodat Rakhimova’s birth at the Uzbek State Musical Theater named after Mukimi.

The participants were presented an exposition consisting of theatrical costumes, various historical documents and photographs telling about the history of the creation of the theater’s team, its activities, the life and work of famous artists.

Shakhodat Rakhimova was a prominent representative of Uzbek national theater in the genres of opera and musical drama. She was born in Namangan in 1919. She began her activity at the age of 13 in Andijan Regional Music and Drama Theater. She created the characters of Gulsara in the play “Gulsara”, Gulchekhra in “Arshin Mal Alan”, Shirin in “Farhad and Shirin”. Sh. Rakhimova in 1939 starred in the first sound feature film “The Oath” along with such outstanding theatrical figures as Lutfikhonim Sarymsakova, Asad Ismatov, Yetim Bobojonov. She was awarded the title “People’s Artist of Uzbekistan” at the age of 20.

She began her activity in 1939 in Mukimi Theater. She created the characters of Zuhra in the play “Tahir and Zuhra”, Bakhrikhon in the stage work “Kurbon Umarov”, Katya in “Revenge”, Nurkhon in “Nurkhon”, which conquered the audience with sincerity, perfect performance, serious interpretation.

Records of arias and songs performed by Shakhodat Rakhimova were played at the memorial evening. Excerpts from the performances with her participation were shown.
