The opening ceremony of the two-day ministerial meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) took place in Bangkok on May 21.

This is the first face-to-face meeting of APEC trade ministers in three years as restrictions related to the coronavirus pandemic have been eased.

Thailand took over the chairmanship of the organization from New Zealand. A meeting of leaders of the APEC member countries is scheduled to be held on 18-19 November in Bangkok.
