Antonio Alonso: Amendments and additions to the Constitution are of great importance in further building a strong and dynamically developed society
10:14 / 2022-07-03

Professor of the Faculty of Law of the Institute for Humanitarian Studies at the San Pablo University, an expert for Central Asia Antonio Alonso shared his comments on the constitutional reform carried out in Uzbekistan with IA Dunyo:

– The Constitution is a strategic document that defines the principles and priority areas for the development of any state. Much depends on its basic principles and provisions and how they will be implemented in practice in the formation of the foundations of statehood. Today, Uzbekistan is a rapidly developing country that is carrying out important reforms in many areas, strengthening its regional and international authority. Of course, the introduction of amendments and additions to the Constitution is of great importance in the process of further building a strong and dynamically developed society.

Undoubtedly, amendments to the Constitution are a requirement of the time and events taking place in the world for the benefit of stability and the continuation of a new course.

I believe that President Shavkat Mirziyoyev made a very correct decision to carry out constitutional reform in the country. The Constitution is the Basic Law, which must be respected and taken as a starting point, which also needs to be adapted to new circumstances.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has the farsightedness and leadership to understand the problems of society and present them in constitutional reforms to adapt the text of the country’s Basic Law to the realities and its future.
