The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan signed the Decree “On introducing amendments to some acts of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan in connection with the harmonization of the national legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the agreements of the World Trade Organization”.
In accordance with it, starting from January 1, 2024, the procedure for exemption from mandatory conformity assessment of products imported from individual states is canceled, and a change is made to the process for labeling imported goods in the state language. Also, starting from January 1, 2025, the customs clearance fee of 1.2 percent of the customs value for the import of medicines and medical products is canceled.
By the Decree, the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade, and the Ministry of Economy and Finance was instructed to submit proposals to the Cabinet of Ministers on automation (digitization) of the process of issuing a license for the import of goods by October 1, 2023; alternative sources of financing for the implementation of relevant tasks in connection with the abolition of the customs clearance fee in the amount of 1.2 percent of the customs value for the import of medicines and medical products before January 1, 2024; bringing the system for issuing a subsidy to compensate for transportation costs in line with the requirements of the World Trade Organization by January 1, 2024.
The Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Customs Committee, by November 1, 2023, were instructed to submit proposals to the Cabinet of Ministers on the unification of customs duty rates levied for the clearance of goods under the export and import customs regimes, by the requirements of the World Trade Organization.
This Decree shall enter into force on January 1, 2024, and the clause providing for the abolition of the customs clearance fee in the amount of 1.2 percent of the customs value when importing medicines and medical products will come into force on January 1, 2025.
