A workshop with the participation of media representatives from countries located in the economic space of the Great Silk Road began its work in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China.

About 40 of our colleagues came to the forum, including Uzbekistan National News Agency employees.

The event’s opening ceremony was held in the conference hall of the Kunlun Hotel in Urumqi, the largest city in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. The regional administration officials emphasized that Xinjiang is an important place located on the main route of the ancient Silk Road.

Journalists draw attention to the fact that in recent years, there has been dramatic development in all directions. In particular, over the past 2-3 years, GDP has grown by 6.8, the number of large industrial enterprises has grown by 6.4 percent, and the region’s net profit has increased by 15 percent. As a result of the implementation of 124 investment projects, the volume of exports and imports increased by 48.9 percent, and the average income of the population increased by 5.6-8.4 percent. Thanks to these results, the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region recorded the highest growth rate among all Chinese provinces.

According to historical data, the beginning of a sedentary lifestyle in Xinjiang dates back to the 60s BC. As noted, the potential and capabilities of this ancient land are very high, so the organizers of the workshop did not hide their intention to strengthen the promotion of their region with the help of the media, which are considered the essential tool allowing the people of the world, developed and developing countries, to learn from each other and get to know each other better.
