Chairman of the State Committee for Ecology and Environmental Protection Narzullo Oblomuradov noted:
– At the initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, saxaul and other plants were planted on the bottom of the dried Aral Sea in 2019-2022 on an area of 1 million 732 thousand hectares, the total area of green coverings exceeded two million hectares.
Work in this direction will be continued in the coming years. In particular, another 400,000 hectares of green covers will be created at the bottom of the dried-up Aral Sea in 2023-2026.
Scientific studies at the research center Growther Lab, located in Zurich, have shown that the most acceptable way to prevent climate change on our planet is to increase new green spaces. For today’s population of the earth, it is necessary to have 4.4 billion hectares of forest. However, there are 2.8 billion hectares on our planet, which means that another 1.6 billion hectares of forest are needed.
