Analysis of the experience of Uzbekistan and South Korea in higher education

Tashkent State University of Economics hosts a forum of rectors of higher education institutions of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea.

The forum, organized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, is attended by heads of more than a hundred universities, authorized persons of ministries and agencies.

Collaboration with South Korea in higher education was mainly aimed at learning the Korean language. Currently, ties have been established with leading universities in South Korea in such areas as technical and engineering sciences, information, digitalization, and industrial technologies. The universities of Inha, Ajou, Bucheon operate in Uzbekistan.

The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), as part of the technical assistance programs, provides scholarships for the education of Uzbekistan citizens in the master’s program of universities in South Korea. KOICA also implements advanced training programs and exchange of experience in various fields for teachers and specialists.

The two-day forum provides university rectors with the opportunity to exchange information, hold masterclasses and workshops. Following the forum, it is planned to sign cooperation agreements that will be aimed at establishing direct ties between the universities of the two countries.

As part of the forum, it is planned to familiarize guests with several universities in Tashkent, visit technoparks and the city of Samarkand.
