An integrated management system for minerals and geological risks to be created
20:49 / 2025-08-08

The Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting with representatives of the Korean Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources (KIGAM) and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).

At the meeting, organized within the framework of the project “Creating an integrated management system for mineral resources and geological risks in Uzbekistan”, the primary focus was placed on the formation of a national database of geological data.

It was noted that a single electronic database will combine data on mineral reserves, mining, and geological risks throughout the country, which will allow their analysis and management in accordance with modern standards. The project is essential because it aims to effectively utilize Uzbekistan’s mineral resource potential, identify geological risks promptly, and enhance its management mechanisms.

The parties stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation, effective project implementation, and the introduction of best practices in geology. Representatives of the Korean delegation noted that the partnership with Uzbekistan in this area is of strategic importance for Korea.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on the selection of a pilot region for the project. At the first stage, data exchange will be established for the selected region, after which a phased coverage of the entire country is planned.
