In Uzbekistan, special attention is paid to self-employment and the development of family entrepreneurship.
We visited Farkhod Ochilov’s house to become familiar with activities carried out by entrepreneurs in Navbakhor district.

A resident of “Navkar” mahalla F.Ochilov is known to everyone as a multifaceted entrepreneur. If you visit his house, you will enjoy Arab pomegranates planted around the yard’s perimeter and grapes of different varieties.
He is engaged in an unconventional business. The entrepreneur is actively working all four seasons of the year. He grows tropical fruits, which he supplies not only to his district, but also to many places of the country.

At first, he planted his 2-hundred-acre plot with citrus seedlings and seeds from China and India. Now, 4-5 types of bananas are growing here. Papaya and tangerines are planted in pots and ripening. There are also many other fruit trees growing here.
“The banana begins to bear fruit only 14-15 months after planting”, says Mr. Ochilov. “In spring and summer, the harvest is large due to the hot weather. One banana tree yields up to 23-24 kg of fruit, about 300-350 pieces of banana. Customers pick up products from home. Some order in advance”.

If you grow seedlings considering the timing of fruiting, you can get harvests all year round.
Today, the number of people interested in Farkhod’s products is increasing. Entrepreneurs planning to grow bananas and papaya come from Khorezm, Surkhandarya, Samarkand, and Bukhara regions and learn the secrets of this business.

Talking with Mr. Ochilov, we asked about his plans. He said that now he is building a greenhouse to expand his activities. He will increase the cultivation of bananas, papayas, and tangerines. He also wants to engage in fishing, beekeeping, and poultry farming.
