Malika Ibragimova, an Associate Professor in the Department of Japanese Philology at the Uzbekistan State World Languages University, has been awarded a Certificate of Commendation by Japan’s Minister for Foreign Affairs.

The award ceremony took place at the residence of the Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The Certificate of Commendation from the head of Japan’s foreign ministry traditionally recognizes individuals and organizations for outstanding contributions to strengthening friendly ties between Japan and other countries, including support for Japanese language education.

As noted while presenting the award, Deputy Head of Mission and Counselor Nakamura Shinichiro, Malika Ibragimova is one of the leading specialists in teaching the Japanese language in the region. As a highly accomplished professional, she provides interpretation at various official events, including meetings with high-ranking officials, thereby making a significant contribution to the development and strengthening of ties between Japan and Uzbekistan.

“Studying a language is, above all, studying the culture and values of that country”, said Nakamura Shinichiro. “Ultimately, the foundation of international relations lies in connections between people. I am confident that students who have learned Japanese under the guidance of Associate Professor Ibragimova will, in the future, be able to serve as a bridge between Japan and Uzbekistan”.

“Every year, students from different parts of our country come to us”, said educator Malika Ibragimova. “During their studies, they change: learning Japanese – one of the most difficult languages in the world – teaches them diligence and discipline. I am proud that by teaching Japanese, we educate our students in the best cultural traditions of the Uzbek and Japanese peoples. Among our graduates are ministers, entrepreneurs, teachers, translators, guides, and professors at Japanese universities. This is our main reward”.
