An eco-campaign in the Aral Sea area
13:20 / 2026-03-10

Students of the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the Nukus State Pedagogical Institute named after Ajiniyaz, together with responsible staff and professors, actively participated in an eco-campaign aimed at restoring ecological stability on the dried bed of the Aral Sea.

During the event, saxaul and other plant seedlings resistant to desert climate conditions were planted on the dried bed of the sea. The aim was to create green vegetation cover in the dried areas of the sea, restore desertified lands, and reduce negative environmental impacts.

The initiative serves not only to ensure the ecological stability of the area, but also to reduce salt and dust storms carried by the wind and to restore soil fertility. By creating a green cover, new plants are being planted on the dried seabed, laying the groundwork for the restoration of the natural ecosystem over time.

“Such plants play an important role in preventing sand movement in the area, reducing the amount of salt and dust rising into the air, and ensuring ecological stability. The students demonstrated their civic responsibility in protecting nature and treating the environment with care, showing particular activity during the campaign”, said Qarjaubay Reymov, Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences.

It should be noted that extensive work is underway in the country to improve the ecological situation in the Aral Sea region. At the President’s initiative, saxaul and other desert-resistant plants are being planted across millions of hectares of the dried bed of the Aral Sea. As a result of such efforts, significant outcomes are being achieved, including expanding green cover in the region, preventing the rise of sand and salt, and protecting public health.

According to experts, such ecological projects will also make a significant contribution in the future to moderating the regional climate, protecting public health, and ensuring the sustainable use of natural resources.
